This two-day experiential osteopathic workshop focuses on the evaluation and treatment of
pregnant moms and newborns.
Description
A systematic approach to the evaluation and treatment of women in their third trimester
will be demonstrated. Participants will be provided the opportunity to practice on a
minimum of two pregnant volunteers.
Learning Objectives
- Restrictions within the mother preventing optimal fetal positioning.
Topics reviewed will include the broad ligaments, pelvic floor, pelvic torsion and
previous surgeries including VBAC (vaginal birth after a caesarean).
- Restrictions within the fetus preventing optimal positioning.
Topics reviewed will include placenta placement, OP (‘sunny side up’) and
transverse repositioning, suggestions during breech presentations and the
importance of LOA.
- The importance of the interplay between mother and baby for a successful vaginal birth.
Description
Creating the therapeutic space for the treatment of a newborn up to four months of age.
Participants will be provided the opportunity to tandem treat a minimum of two newborns.
Learning Objectives
- Topics reviewed will include the birth spiral, posterior vs anterior chain development,
common lesional patterns during birth, tongue and lip ties, the mechanics of breast
feeding, and recommendations for parents of a newborn.
It was such a well thought out and put together workshop. I gained such valuable experience
