This workshop is for couples planning on getting pregnant, expectant families, doulas, birth partners, grandparents, and anyone interested in pregnancy and birth.
Birthing in the Kootenays has reverted to a medical model. The emphasis has shifted from the education, preparation and celebration of the pregnant mother to clinical testing and the technical workings of the hospital system. Although still important, within the medical system the wonder of life and the excitement of witnessing the arrival of a new being on our planet has been lost.
This workshop reclaims the wonderment and awe of the entire birthing process. From rewriting the story of conception to exercises to optimize fetal position to encourage a complete birth spiral and fulfilling birthing experience.
The father is the often-overlooked element of the birthing trilogy. We will stock his toolbelt with many tips and ideas to support and advocate for his labouring partner.
Finally, we will review lots of tips for the care of the modern newborn.
