Clinical Skills Workshop

Every day clients come to us with several random pieces of information - lab reports, imaging, Google diagnoses, advice from their neighbor, personal histories full of things that don’t make sense. It is like they are handing us a jigsaw puzzle and asking us to reconstruct their former selves. What does all this information mean? How do we pull out the most useful information to put together a clinical picture? Does this client have ten different things wrong with them, or are they handing you ten different views of the same problem? This is the space where we will work on the puzzle together.

During this two and a half day in-person workshop, we will review history taking and how to connect the dots between seemingly abstract, but overlapping pieces of information. Alternative approaches to the physical examination will be explored as well as palpation confirmation and feedback. If you have questions or areas where you don’t feel confident in your client encounters, I invite you to bring them to this workshop for us to explore together.

Teara’s course was much more than the description. It was jam packed with information that I didn’t have the best grasp on and she does an amazing job explaining how she involves clients in their treatment through making sure they understand how pain and progress work. This helped me to change how I frame things with my clients as well as deepen my understanding on the importance of diving into pain description.

She also left room within the course to deepen our understanding on the group’s topics of interests which was very valuable as it feels like the course gets tailored to your needs. Would definitely recommend taking this if she offers again, as well as any other courses. She is an endless well of information!

Testimonials
Colby Fox, DOMP

After attending Teara Ashby's Clinical Skills Workshop I felt inspired and excited to see patients. The workshop was dynamic, interactive and engaging. Our questions guided the discussion which enabled the group to get the most out of our time together. It was so refreshing after sitting through many online lectures or taking courses that are so technique focused that you can't remember most of them. The material was interesting and applicable and we were able to bring our own clinical cases and questions which was extremely helpful.  We also learned several hands-on techniques to integrate into our practice. This was one of my favorite workshops that I've attended and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I feel that Teara’s commitment to following her heart centred path contributes to her exuberance and energy that I have come to know.  This, along with her depth of knowledge, experience and patience creates a supportive environment for me as a patient, student and colleague.  My practice and life have benefitted from knowing Teara.
